Who are GIG of Central Ohio?

The Gluten-Free Gang, is a support group in Central Ohio for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance and their families and friends.

The Gluten-Free Gang
:

 * Shares information on current research
 * Shares information about the gluten-free diet
 * Participates in fund-raising events, which help raise awareness of celiac disease

We are a chapter of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America.

Did you know you are not alone?
In the United States:

* It’s estimated 1 out of every 133 people have celiac disease
* Out of every 100 people, 97 remain undiagnosed
* Over 3 million people have celiac disease
* It takes an average of 8 to 11 years for a US celiac to be properly diagnosed
* Up to 10% of people with celiac disease also have type 1 diabetes (another autoimmune disease)
* Women have a celiac disease at a ratio of 3 to 1 when compared to men
* There are over 250 possible symptoms related to gluten intolerance
