Getting Started with the Gluten-Free Diet
Welcome. If you are new to gluten intolerance or GIG, we recommend the following as first steps:
- Educate yourself: read files in our “Learn” tab for more information. There are also numerous bloggers and magazines who provide ongoing lifestyle and recipe tips. Living Without magazine and Gluten-Free Challenge on Facebook are two of our favorites.
- Review Gluten Free 101, authored by GIG. Register to the right to download.
- Identify safe food & dining sources: review the certified Gluten Free products and restaurants in your area for confidence and safety in your food choices. P.F. Chang’s, Melting Pot and City Grille are three options of national chains that offer gluten free menu items.
- Build your community: check us out on Facebook or find your closest Local GIG Branch support group. When facing a big transition, nothing beats the support and knowledge of others who’ve been there.
- Join GIG – we are dedicated to providing accurate, scientific, evidence-based information. We are here as a resource for all people living or supporting a gluten-free lifestyle. We invite you to attend our annual education conference or check out our volunteer opportunities if you are more interested in getting involved.
