The Gluten Intolerance Group®, also known as GIG®, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded by private donations including the Combined Federal Campaign, United Way Designated Giving, Employer Matching Funds; proceeds from memberships, the sale of products and our educational resources. We rely on your contributions, which are tax deductible. 85% or more of our revenue is used to support our programs. We are led by a Board of Trustees, and GIG's Medical Advisory Board approves all education materials.

GIG MISSION
The mission of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America® is to provide support to persons with gluten intolerances, including celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis, and other gluten sensitivities, in order to live healthy lives.

GIG BRANCH MISSION
GIG Branches help to fulfill GIG's mission on a local and regional level through programs tailored to their community.

GIG VISION
The vision of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America is one of mutual support, acceptance, and respect for all persons living with gluten intolerances and working with this community. GIG PROGRAMS FULFILLING THE MISSION
GIG fulfills its mission of supporting persons living with gluten intolerances through programs directed to consumers, health professionals and the public. GIG® programs provide:

SUPPORT and EDUCATION
Support and Education occur at four levels: the patients, health professionals, manufacturers and the hospitality industry, and the public.

Support and education programs providing patient support include the GIG Annual Education Conference, GIG Quarterly NewsMagazine and other education materials, phone consultations, regular 2-day education clinics, lectures regionally, Youth programs, and GIG's Kids Camp. As well, GIG Branch Offices provide support at a local and regional level through meetings, demonstrations and other activities. Partnerships with other organizations advance the desire to work together for the common good of all persons with gluten intolerances.

Support and education programs for health care professionals include attendance, lectures and exhibits at national and international medical meetings, consultation with health care professionals, and providing education materials to medical personnel. Our Executive Director is the Chairman of Dietitians in Gluten Intolerance Diseases (DIGID), a specialty group within the American Dietetic Association (ADA), working to provide quality materials and education to dietitians.

Support and education programs for manufacturers and the hospitality industry include attendance, lectures and exhibits at industry meetings, consultation with industry members. Through programs such as the Gluten-Free Certification Organization and the Restaurant Awareness programs, we encourage and support the industry working to meet the needs of persons with gluten intolerances.

Support and Education of the public includes attendance, lecturing and exhibiting at, and providing materials for a number of public health events to educate the public about gluten intolerance diseases.

RESEARCH AWARENESS & SUPPORT
GIG supports research projects by providing information to patients about potential participation. GIG encourages support of research through advocacy efforts. When appropriate, GIG provides financial support to research institutions.
